Summer Sharks


Rising Pre-K 4 - 5th $300

Ready for the best summer ever? Come join JCDS in celebrating 55 years of summer camp with Summer Sharks! Spend your summer with us swimming, in our beautiful gym, and competing in special events. Campers will travel on a weekly off-campus field trip, earn the 2026 bottle badges, visit the art room and enjoy game time with friends in their cabin.

New for 2026 we are introducing the Invention Lab! This will be a space for campers to explore creativity, test out their skills and challenge their minds and friends to a weekly special project.

Daily lunch and a snack are included for all campers. Get ready to spend your summer the right way with JCDS!

Field Trip:
Campers will be headed to Bowlero Mandarin for some bowling action!

Camp Tradition:
Get ready for the Egg Drop Competition! All Summer Sharks campers will work throughout the week in the Invention Lab on designing and building their egg drop device, and get to test it out in a camp wide Egg Drop competition.


Bug and Garden Explorers

Rising Pre-K 4 - K $350
presented by Katie Rutledge

Ready to explore nature? Come delve into the natural world through books, crafts, outdoor exploration, “cooking” & movement. Campers will get to hunt for bugs, plant seeds, do nature painting, and do lots of fun crafts. Bring your explorer spirit and get ready to get bitten by the nature bug! This camp will be led by JCDS Kindergarten Teacher Katie Rutledge.


Super Hero Academy

Rising 2nd - 5th $350
presented by Olajuwan Theodore

Grab your capes and get ready to be a hero! Campers will use their imagination and grow in confidence, kindness, and learn to work as part of a hero team all week. We will explore the different characteristics of being a superhero through crafts, activities, and hero challenges. Each camper will get to create their own personalized hero, give them a cape, design their costume, and come up with their own superpowers. Once our band of heroes is assembled, the team will face obstacle courses, training missions, and other hero tasks throughout the week. Heroes will also build their individual confidence and foster their creativity through fun, imaginative play. This super camp will be led by JCDS 1st-grade Associate Olajuwon "Static" Theodore.


Cooking with Books

Rising K - 2nd $400
presented by Iliana Leonard

Ready to feast on the stories and adventures you're reading about? Then come dive into the world of literacy and cooking! Campers will explore an author or story each day and then create a culinary masterpiece from the story. Stories are best shared with food, so why not have both? This program will be led by JCDS Spanish Specialist, Iliana Leonard.


Sharky's Global Adventures


Rising 1st - 3rd $350
presented by Emily Mills

Sharky is on summer vacation, and his passport is ready for an unforgettable journey around the world! Just like Carmen Sandiego, Sharky is set to explore new destinations, and it’s up to the campers to crack puzzles, solve escape room-style clues, and uncover Sharky’s travel itinerary. Along the way, campers will discover exciting facts about geography, famous landmarks, local games, music, food, art, architecture, and much more! Your tour guide for this globe-hopping program will be JCDS 1st-grade Teacher Emily Mills.



Young Professionals

Rising 1st - 4th $350
presented by Emily Vasquez

Come spend a week at camp exploring some of the most incredible and interesting professions on the planet! Each day, campers will get to learn about a new, unique profession through stories, daily challenges and group activities. Campers will get to be a chef, entrepreneur, artist, scientist, and more, all in just one week of camp. Our future professionals will be led by JCDS PE Specialist Emily Vasquez.


Art Adventures

Rising 3rd - 5th $450
presented by Alli Flores

Ready to take a deeper exploration of the artistic world? Then Art Adventures is for you! Artists will explore a variety of in-depth projects, interact with local experts, and even put on their own art show. Campers will create poured acrylic artwork, shibori-dye an apron, and make a piece of functional ceramics on the potter's wheel. Campers will also get to explore a local art museum on an off-campus field trip as part of this program as well. We welcome parents, families, and friends to join our campers at an Art Show for parents on Friday, June 12th, at 4:30 p.m. This program will be led by JCDS Art Specialist Alli Flores.


Obstacle Course Engineering

Rising 3rd - 5th $400
presented by Lyndsey Gammon

Are you ready to engineer the next great American Ninja Warrior Course? Then come join us to model, test, and create real life and virtual models of the obstacle and ninja course all kids love! Campers will learn about the elements of obstacle courses, the type of structures they use to support the challenge, and begin by modeling out their individual courses. Campers will then test their models in real life with other camper and review, modify and refine their final design. Campers will also use the ROBLOX software to create their own "Obby" course in the virtual world to enjoy at home! This program will by led by JCDS 1st-grade Teacher, Lyndsey Gammon.
